The latter years

On the wall of his studio in Provence is this quote from George Bataille: “The blue in the sky is the emptiness of the sky”. The “Bois” series recovers abandoned construction beams and modifies them only slightly; the barely transparent white and discreet diagonals give them a second life. The large paintings of this time period stem from a tactile sensitivity and the renewal of the color (gray, greige, blue grey), all in subtle modifications.
